To prevent HPV related cancers later in life, your child (be it a boy or girl) should get 2 doses of the HPV vaccine between 9 to 14 years of age

Young Adolescents who get timely vaccinated with 2 doses of the HPV vaccine mount a superior response as compared to those who get it later.

As per the IAP and ACVIP guidelines, vaccinating your kid at 9-10 years of age is more effective than the other age groups.

As per the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the vaccine against HPV is both safe and effective.

The side effects of the HPV vaccine range from Mild to Moderate. It includes pain, swelling or redness at the vaccine site, and dizziness or fainting sensation.

After getting the vaccine shot, monitor your kid for at least 20 minutes for any immediate side effects. Remember, these side effects are normal and are not specific to any vaccine.

As per the Vaccination Schedule by IAP (Indian Academy of Pediatrics):

- Girls aged 9 through 14 years should be given 2 doses in the gap of 6 months.

- Immunocompromised kids, irrespective of their age, are recommended 3 doses in the schedule 0–2–6 months.
